I am in need of an attorney that can help me with my case. In late February I was contacted by the Alpharetta Police department that they wanted to talk to me about an argument I had with my wife that morning. They wanted for me to go by the police station and give them a statement. I contacted a lawyer in Alpharetta to educate me about what was going on, who then called in my presence the police officer in charge to ask him if there was an arrest warrant or a pending arrest warrant, and the officer said NO and that he just wanted to take my statement. When I went to the Alpharetta Police deprtment, I was arrested for simple battery with no statement or any questions asked. The police officer decided to get an arrest warrant as my wife refused to press charges or sign for the petition for the arrest warrant. The case got dismissed in Fulton County Magistrate Court, there was no physical evidence, contact or abuse, no witnesses to the argument between my wife and I (married for 26 years). My wife has been seeing a psychiatrist since January and has seen several psychiatrist in the past and most likely suffers from bipolar disorder. This arrest without a statement or credible evidence has ruined my professional life, my ability to earn income, and most importantly my family. What kind of case, if any, do I have against the Alpharetta Police department, and what kind of lawyer do I need to pursue a case against them? Thanks
